Atomic Structure & Electronic Configuration
Atom vs ion configurations, d-block anomalies, the exceptions (Cr, Cu). The topic that sets up everything else in A-level Chemistry. Get this wrong and transition metals become guesswork in Year 13.
Bonding & Structure
Shapes, bond angles, intermolecular forces. The classic 6-marker almost every student fumbles. Most teens understand the concept but haven’t learned the examiner’s specific language for it.
Stoichiometry
Multi-step calculation chains — limiting reagents, titrations, percentage purity, percentage yield, gas volumes. The wrong mole ratio is the single most common error in A-level Chemistry. We fix it.
Energetics
Hess’s law cycles, calorimetry, bond enthalpies, sign conventions. One misunderstood convention here costs marks across the entire paper — not just the energetics questions.
Kinetics
Rate equations, orders, rate-determining step, Maxwell-Boltzmann distributions. Conceptual and maths-heavy. The examiner’s language here is the difference between a B and an A.
